    In the context of the Soviet prison, the profusion of religoius subjects can be easily explained: tattooed images of saints, crosses and churches have got absolutely  nothing with religious 
beliefs. These tattooes grow from one’s desire to be shown as an outcast: someone who has been misunderstood and is now doomed to suffer for the rest of his life. ‘A child of prison’.
